AUDITORIUM THEATRE :: WILD HOPE | 5 RONAN DONOVAN “At its simplest, to be a National Geographic Explorer means to have a driven curiosity about the world,” Donovan said of his experience working with the organization. “To ask questions, then to set out on a path to find the answers and finally to share the discovery. How can humans and wildlife coexist on Earth? In my case, I set out to use imagery and storytelling to explore such questions.” — Ronan Donovan Donovan was a field biologist studying wild species like owls, whales, chimpanzees before turning his efforts toward wildlife photography and filmmaking to convey these important stories about the behaviors and relationships humans share with endangered wildlife. He explains being a National Geographic Explorer is a culmination of “a decade of experiences, connections and skills.” Donovan has worked on all seven continents, with experiences ranging from documenting wild chimpanzees in Uganda to chronicling the life of one of Yellowstone’s iconic species, the gray wolf. Join us for Wild Hope, our second event in the National Geographic Live series and explore with Ami Vitale on March 13 at the Auditorium Theatre. Don’t forget to return on April 10, for Social by Nature featuring biologist-turned- photographer Ronan Donovan. Ronan Donovan, photo by Neal Herbert.
