Rudolf Nureyev Fund at The Joffrey Ballet —
Both The Joffrey Ballet and the Rudolf
Nureyev Dance Foundation are committed to telling stories through ballet. We are
honored that the Joffrey has been awarded a $500,000 challenge grant from the
prestigious Rudolf Nureyev Dance Foundation expressly to launch an endowment for the
creation, production and performance of full-length story ballets.
“Story ballets serve as a great entry point for new audiences to discover dance and for dancers
to discover their art. With this grant and the support of matching donors, we have the
opportunity to explore what it means to tell a story through dance in the 21st century.”
— Ashley Wheater, Artistic Director, The Joffrey Ballet
A Fund Raising Challenge —
To meet the challenge and secure the Rudolph Nureyev
Foundation’s gift, The Joffrey Ballet is responsible for raising an additional $1 million by
June 30, 2015. These funds along with the Nureyev Foundation’s matching gift will create
an endowment for the Joffrey to perform full-length ballets on a continuing basis.
Donors to the Rudolph Nureyev Fund
at The Joffrey Ballet will be recognized in the
following categories, commemorating some of Nureyev’s best-known performances:
Don Quixote:
gifts of $100,000 and up
Sleeping Beauty:
gifts of $50,000-$99,999
Giselle:
gifts of $25,000-$49,999
Les Sylphides:
gifts of $1,000-$24,999
Through an investment in the Rudolph Nureyev Fund at The Joffrey Ballet,
you can help ensure that great stories like these will be performed in Chicago.
