The result is exquisite design

the opportunity to enhance
your lifestyle. The University
of Chicago Cancer Research
Foundation Women’s Board
is pleased to partner with
the Merchandise Mart and
shares in their commitment to
creativity, attention to detail and
innovation as we pursue a cure
for cancer
We are delighted to partner with the Merchandise Mart for the 2011 DreamHome as we partner to support
Pediatric Cancer Research at the University of Chicago Comprehensive Cancer Center. The number of
U.S. cancer survivors is increasing by hundreds of thousands a year, and now includes roughly one in
20 adults. According to the Wall Street Journal, more are surviving cancer, in part, because of earlier
detection and better treatment.
Funds raised this year will further advance the development of treatments for children afflicted with
cancer of the sympathetic nervous system (neuroblastoma); those areas of the body that function
automatically. In previous years, funds have supported pediatric survivorship clinics and chemical and
screening libraries that are used to develop therapies for a form of cancer of the muscles that attaches to
the bones (rhabdomyosarcoma).
This is only one of the many areas of research supported by this dynamic board over the years. The
Women's Board has significantly contributed to support seminal cancer research with a wide-ranging
impact on the early detection, diagnosis, treatment and prevention. They are proud to have underwritten
the work of Charles B. Huggins who received the Nobel Prize in Medicine and Physiology; Elwood Jensen,
who received the Albert Lasker award; and Janet Rowley who received America’s highest honor, The
National Medal of Freedom, as well as many other preeminent scientists and physicians. We are confident
that together with your support, we can fulfill our mission to make cancer a thing of the past.
The Women’s Board Would Like to Thank
