Tools and safety equipment are provided. Saturdays & Sundays, Sept 27 & 28, Oct 25 & 26, Nov 29 & 30 • 9:30–11:30 am SEPTEMBER Singing with Cicadas* Learn about cicadas during a guided hike as they serenade us with song. Saturday, Sept 6 • 1 pm Macroinvertebrate Survey* Survey for aquatic macroinvertebrates in the stream. Wear rubber boots. All ages Sunday, Sept 7 • 10:30 am Fall Prairie Walk Learn about grasses, goldenrods and asters that brighten the prairie with vibrant color in autumn. Ages 10 & up. Saturday, Sep 13 • 1 pm Bird Banding See birds up close while learning about this scientific study. Sunday, Sept 14 • 10 am–Noon Hasta luego, Aves!* Join us for a presentation about the bird migration journey from the Chicago region to Mexico. Saturday, Sept 20 • 1 pm Music in Nature* Listen to a special commissioned musical piece performed by Chicago-based string ensemble, Missing Piece, followed by a short walk. Sunday, Sept 21 • 1 pm OCTOBER Oak Ecology Hike* Hike under ancient oaks to learn about their natural history and why they are keystone species. Ages 18 & up.
