Chicago Opera Theater strives to provide people of all ages exciting opportunities to
learn more about opera and its creators. Through during school, after school, college, and
adult education offerings, COT provides even more for curious audiences. We proudly
continue to ask our students to be creative and questioning individuals who desire to
challenge the definition of opera in Chicago.
Opera For All
Opera For All
brings Teaching Artists into Chicago
Public Elementary Schools to educate students
about classical music, singing, and opera.
Opera
For All
allows kids to understand the art by
participating in it, both in production and in
performance. Each year, students in
Opera For All
participate in a 35 session program with the end
goal of creating their very own unique opera.
Chicago Opera Theater for Teens
In collaboration with the City of Chicago’s After School Matters program, COT offers
Chicago Opera Theater for Teens at Solorio Academy High School. By a selective audition
process, students receive a stipend to study vocal technique, drama, opera and musical
theater staging and production, and learn about college and career opportunities. The
Chicago Opera Theater for Teens are often seen performing around the city of Chicago.
Viewpoints
Viewpoints is a series of events of programmed around each opera production designed to
enrich, entertain, and educate. Most often in collaboration with other cultural organizations
in Chicago, each Viewpoints event is intended to stimulate conversation, enhance contextual
and conceptual understanding and further engage the curiosity of our audience.

COT wishes to thank the following generous sponsors for their contributions to the
education and community engagement programs: Polk Bros. Foundation, Mazza
