PAVILION 7:00 PM FRIDAY, JUNE 13, 2025 THE COMPLETE SWEETS! TOUR COUNTING CROWS with special guest THE GASLIGHT ANTHEM † The Gaslight Anthem –Intermission– Counting Crows † Ravinia debut THE GASLIGHT ANTHEM Since coming together in 2007, The Gaslight An- themhas forged its own powerful, populist sound, marrying their punk roots with rich craft and raw emotional power to create a soulful, exhilarating, and utterly unique vision of American rock and roll. After debuting with Sink or Swim that same year, the New Jersey–based band broke out on a global scale with 2008’s The ’59 Sound , fueled by heroic hooks, huge choruses, and wildly trium- phant energy. Further critical applause followed 2010’s American Slang , which made historic chart entries worldwide, including a number-one debut on Billboard ’s Independent Albums, while 2012’s Handwritten proved the apogee for The Gaslight Anthem’s anthemic approach, scoring top-10 chart debuts in eight countries. Having climbed the mountaintop, The Gaslight Anthem chose to call it a day in 2015, making what they thought was their last-ever live appearance at the UK’s Reading Fes- tival. However, 2018 saw the band reunite for the 10th anniversary of The ’59 Sound with a very special series of shows across North America and Europe, performing the album in its entirety. The Gaslight Anthem’s sixth full-length and first new album together in almost a decade, 2023’s History Books once again brings their soulful breed of life-affirming punk to explore everything from mortality to mental illness. Hailed by the Associated Press as “big-hearted freeway rock,” the title track features vocals from longtime band champion and fellow New Jerseyan Bruce Springsteen. The Gaslight Anthem marked History Books with worldwide headline dates and festival appearances, including a co-head- line set at Chicago’s Riot Fest. The Gaslight Anthem is making its Ravinia debut. COUNTING CROWS For more than two decades, the Grammy- and Oscar-nominated band Counting Crows has en- chanted listeners worldwide with their intensely soulful and intricate take on timeless rock and roll. Exploding onto the music scene in 1993 with their multi-platinum album August and Everything After , the band has gone on to release seven studio albums, selling more than 20 mil- lion records worldwide, and is revered as one of the world’s pre-eminent live touring rock bands. In October 1996, the band’s double-platinum sophomore, Recovering the Satellites , debuted at number one and further solidified their grow- ing reputation as one of the leading American alternative rock bands in the world. Following up their early success, Counting Crows has also released This Desert Life (1999), Hard Candy (2002), Saturday Nights & Sunday Mornings (2008), Underwater Sunshine (Or What We Did on Our Summer Vacation) (2012), and Echoes of the Outlaw Roadshow (2013). The instant success of the track earned them Best Original Song nomination for the 2005 Oscars and Golden Globes, as well as a Grammy Award nomination for Best Song Writ- ten for a Motion Picture, Television or Other Vi- sual Media. In 2014, Counting Crows released their critically acclaimed seventh studio album, Somewhere Under Wonderland , which debuted at number 10 on Billboard ’s charts. The collec- tion comprised nine sprawling tracks around rich sonic tapestries, which yielded some of the most grandiose yet intimate songs Count- ing Crows had recorded to date. Adam Duritz, Jim Bogios, David Bryson, Charlie Gillingham, David Immergluck, Millard Powers, and Dan Vickrey hit the road in 2018 for the massive “25 Years and Counting” tour; then, in 2021, Bill- board ranked Counting Crows number 8 on its “Greatest of All Time: Adult Alternative Artists” 25th-anniversary chart. After seven years out of the recording studio, Duritz and Counting Crows released Butter Miracle: Suite One in 2021 to rave reviews. Completing the album arc, But- ter Miracle, The Complete Sweets! Was released this May. Counting Crows first played Ravinia in 2010, and tonight marks the band’s sixth sea- son at the festival.
