MORE THAN A FESTIVAL The Steans Institute is a guiding light for exceptional musical talent, cultivating the next generation of classical and jazzmusicians. Emerging professional classical pianists and string players, classical singers, and jazz instrumentalists receive fellowships to attend Steans at no cost—to refine their craft, collaborate with peers, and elevate their musicianship with a world-class faculty during the summer at Ravinia. Founded in honor of Lois M. Steans in 1988, the institute has supported over 1,700 exceptional artists , many of whom have cultivated highly visible careers in performance, artistic leadership, andmusic education.
