comfortable in front of a camera. Every time I’ve been in front of a camera, it’s been awkward for me, so I wouldn’t really chase that part of the dream, but writing is something I’m always interested in. If you know anybody who wants to read a very involved sci-fi, let me know. All it takes is a passionate independent at this point! The big studios and record labels aren’t as essential anymore. Having been in the industry through various eras, how have you embraced any of those changes when it comes to your recording career? Well, I wouldn’t exist without the inter- net. What I do is very quirky. It’s very eclectic, and it’s not something you can pack into super easily. I think the benefit of the internet has been that people can discover me in chunks, put it all togeth- er for themselves and realize what it is, as opposed to just trying to digest it in one fell swoop. Your artistry and accomplishments more than speak for themselves, but is there anything left on your wish list? I’m just trying to write a good song, so that’s my wish list. I have a really good song I’m gonna try and get Lenny to sing on the Afrobeat record. If I can get the lyrics right, it could be the one. For me, songwriting is a whole thing. I just love writing songs, trying to get ’em right, and trying to have my own formula for how I see them—and finally figure out how to write that one song that everybody knows.
