Assad) There is no intermission in this program. † Ravinia debut * First performance at Ravinia Netherlands Opera, Teatro Real de Madrid, and the Salzburg, Baden-Baden, and Glyndebourne Festivals, among many other major European venues, in Baroque and Classical repertoire, as well as in such contemporary works as Stravinsky’s The Rake’s Progress and Zimmermann’s Die Soldaten . Concert highlights include performances with the Cleveland Orchestra, St. Louis Symphony, Royal Scottish National Orchestra, Philharmonia Baroque, and the Los Angeles, Lausanne, Netherlands, and Moscow Chamber Orchestras, as well as collaborations with such artists as mezzo-soprano Anne Sofie von Otter, tenor Rolando Villazón, flutist Joshua Smith, lutenist Jakob Lindberg, and violinist Rachel Barton Pine. His recordings of the complete works of Jean-Philippe Rameau (2012) and contemporary toccatas (2013) on Sono Luminus were nominated for Grammys. Jory Vinikour has given solo con- certs at Ravinia in 2019 and 2023. Chase Hopkins is the general direc- tor of Chicago’s Haymarket Opera Company and artistic director of Opera Edwardsville. Since joining Haymarket in 2020, he has pro- duced five critically acclaimed sea- sons. Hopkins made his directorial debut in 2023 with Hasse’s Marc’An- tonio e Cleopatra , praised by the Wall Street Journal for its emotional depth, and followed in 2024 by Han- del’s Tamerlano , hailed as “another impressive achievement” ( Opera Magazine ). He served as creative producer for Haymarket’s cinematic Handel trilogy and the 2022 premiere of L’Amant Anonyme , whose recording earned five stars from BBC Music Magazine . A skilled performer with a focus on Baroque opera, Hopkins trained with the Opera Theatre of Saint Louis and has performed across Europe and the United States with such renowned conductors as René Jacobs, Jonathan Cohen, and Christian Cunryn. A graduate of Northwestern University and the Royal Northern College of Music, Hopkins completed executive train- ing at Harvard Business School. Hopkins is a regular judge of the Handel Aria Competition and recently adjudicated Chicago’s Luminarts Founda- tion Vocal Fellowship competition. Hannah Zizza Stanfield serves as assistant director and titles coordi- nator for Haymarket Opera Compa- ny’s production of Vinci’s Artaserse this season and has been a regular collaborator with the company since 2022. Her recent directing and assis- tant directing credits include Mas- cagni’s Cavalleria rusticana , Leon- cavallo’s Pagliacci , Donizetti’s Don Pasquale , and Verdi’s Stiffelio and Oberto with Sarasota Opera; Gluck’s Orfeo ed Euridice and Britten’s The Turn of the Screw with DePaul Opera Theatre; andMontemezzi’s L’amore dei Tre Re with the Opera Festival of Chi- cago. A trained soprano and instrumentalist, Stanfield brings a deep passion for opera and opera education to her work. She holds triple undergraduate degrees from the University of Missouri in voice performance, flute perfor- mance, and French literature. She also earned a master’s degree in voice per- formance from Roosevelt University’s Chicago College of Performing Arts, where she concentrated in musicology.
