ADRIANDUNN SINGERS e Adrian Dunn Singers, founded and directed by Adrian Dunn, as Chicago’s all-Black profes- sional choral ensemble. e ensemble made its Ravinia Festival debut with the Chicago Sym- phony Orchestra in , performing Dunn’s arrangement of “Goin’ Home” under Marin Al- sop. ey have since appeared at Carnegie Hall, Washington National Cathedral, Chicago’s Sym- phony Center, Zipper Concert Hall in Los Ange- les, Segerstrom Center, and e Harris eater, and the ensemble made their European debut at the Klangwolke Festival in Linz, Austria. Recent highlights include Mozart’s Requiem with the Elgin Symphony Orchestra, their Chicago Phil- harmonic debut with Dunn’s original composi- tion Redemption , and Joel ompson’s e Seven Last Words of the Unarmed with the Chicago Sinfonietta. ey’re featured on the Emmy win- ning PBS specials Emancipation and Wonderful: A Soulful Celebration at Milwaukee Symphony Hall . He is also the winner of the Herb Alpert Award in e- atre, an inaugural recipient of the Doris Duke Performing Artist Award, and a inductee into the American Academy of Arts and Sci- ences. An internationally renowned cultural strategist, Bamuthi has lectured in di erent countries, and his TED Talk “You Have the Rite” has been viewed more than ve million times. Bamuthi has most recently completed commis- sions for Yale University, the Albany Symphony Orchestra, Minnesota Orchestra, New Jersey Symphony Orchestra, and the Washington Na- tional Opera. His most recent orchestral work, Good News Mass with music by Carlos Simon, was premiered by the Los Angeles Philharmonic and conductor Gustavo Dudamel in April . His latest collaboration with composer Daniel Bernard Roumain (DBR), e Forgiveness Suite , was released as a live album—recorded with the Albany Symphony—in August in collabo- ration with Bright Shiny ings. Recent high- lights also include Bamuthi’s opera Watch Night with music by Tamar-kali and direction by Bill T. Jones, premiered at PAC NYC in , and Carnival of the Animals , a collaboration with NYC Ballet Associate Artistic Director Wendy Whelan that premiered at the Meany Center in Seattle in . An emergent on-screen talent, he is among the featured performers in HBO’s screen adaptation of Between the World and Me by Ta-Nehesi Coates. An alumnus of Morehouse College, Bamuthi received an honorary doc- torate of ne arts from the California College of Arts in and has subsequently received honorary doctorates from Middlebury College in and the Kansas City Institute of the Arts in .
