TRUE Self BASSIST AND RAPPER Divinity Roxx is returning to Ravinia on August . at’s reason to “Celebrate”—and not just with her song of the same name. Divinity joyfully recalls the rst time she brought her family-friendly hip-hop proj- ect Divi Roxx Kids to Ravinia’s Carousel in . “Oh my God,” she exclaims. “I remember this little girl was singing along to the theme song I wrote for the PBS Kids show Lyla in the Loop. She sang every single word. It blew my mind.” ere will no doubt be a lot more of that as Roxx performs fan-favorite songs from her Gram- my-nominated albums Ready Set Go , which inspired two Scholastic picture books, and ’s World Wide Playdate. But she is also thrilled to be performing new songs from an upcoming third album for children. “Woo-hoo!” she shouts. “ e record is called Starchild, the rst of a trilogy that is rooted deeply in the art of storytelling. Every song on the album is a snapshot of a little girl named Starchild, who appears to be ordinary, but who is just a little extraor- dinary—she just doesn’t know it yet.” Each song, Roxx says, projects a sense of Starchild coming into her power through her interactions with the people in her life.
