Young Daelyn Calloway always loved singing along to the radio, prompting her mom to look for educational opportunities to help her further explore music. At age 7, she joined her older siblings at the Ravinia Lawndale Family Music School, and in her mother’s words, she “tore the roof o the place” during her choir audition. MEET SOPRANO DAELYNCALLOWAY “That has not only helped me as a musician, but helped me become a more confident human being.” —Daelyn Calloway, 17 APRIL 25, 2024 It was her instructor, Jade Maze, who introduced Daelyn to opera at the Ravinia Lawndale Family Music School, which provides tuition-free music classes for children, adults, and families.From there, Daelyn was hooked, performing with Opera for the Young at Ravinia several times before appearing at the Lyric Opera of Chicago by age 12. She’s since taken the stage alongside the Chicago Symphony Orchestra with Uniting Voices Chicago.
