He loved being in the studio and partic- ipating in competitions. He enjoyed performing in musical theater in high school, and he studied jazz dance for four years in college—dancing more than he ever had before. Eight years ago, Jack moved to Chica- go to pursue a career in dance. Since then, he has danced in several compa- nies, expanding his skills beyond jazz to include modern dance, contemporary ballet, and hip-hop. Unfortunately, out of nowhere, at age , Jack started to experience pain in his hip and le knee. Even more concern- ing, his knee started to give out on him while rehearsing. As a professional dancer, Jack’s live- lihood relied on performing and being able to meet the physically demanding nature of his job. At the time he was beginning to experience symptoms, he also was preparing for an upcoming performance. Jack started to seek solutions with a sense of urgency. He learned about the Performing Arts Medicine Program at Shirley Ryan AbilityLab. Shirley Ryan AbilityLab has been ranked the number-one rehabilitation hospital in America by U.S. News & World Report every year since .
