Known for an im- maculately cra ed but endlessly surprising sound that transcends the boundaries of roots, country, rock and roll, and pop, Krauss the band released their highly anticipated new al- bum, Arcadia , in . is marked their rst studio album since the masterpiece Paper Airplane —a critically lauded, multiple Gram- my Award–winning LP that debuted at number one on Billboard ’s country, bluegrass, and folk album charts. Born in Decatur, IL, Krauss rst got into music through classical violin lessons at age , but soon dove into bluegrass ddling and began recording in her teens. A er her solo debut with Too Late to Cry , Krauss assem- bled Union Station for ’s Two Highways and earned her rst of currently career Grammy nominations, winning Best Bluegrass Album honors with her next two releases, I’ve Got at Old Feeling ( ; solo) and Every Time You Say Goodbye ( ; with Union Station). In , she was nominated for and won four CMA Awards, including Female Vocalist of the Year. Krauss & Union Station followed up with Grammy win- ner So Long, So Wrong in , then welcomed Dobro virtuoso Jerry Douglas into the group for ’s New Favorite , following the group’s main- stream exposure on the soundtrack to ’s O Brother, Where Art ou? . A er ’s Lonely Runs Both Ways —the band’s third consecutive Gold album—Krauss teamed up with Robert Plant for Raising Sand and won ve Gram- mys, including Album and Record of the Year.
