For nearly years he has cultivated a multifaceted career as a mu- sician, producer, activist, and humanitarian, earning eight Grammy Awards and a Daytime Emmy. Equal parts storyteller and motivational guide, he explores issues from environmental awareness to self-empowerment and social jus- tice to political inequity while returning to the transformative power of love. At age , Ziggy Marley entered the family music trade as a sing- er on the charity single “Children Playing in the Streets” alongside his siblings; together they began performing as the Melody Makers a er their father’s death. e group released its rst album in , Play the Game Right , backed by the rhythm section from e Wailers. Ziggy be- came the de facto leader of the Melody Makers around the same time, and ’s pop-in ected Hey World! gave way to the band’s rst tours, including regular appearances at Reggae Sun- splash. Marley and the Melody Makers worked with members of Talking Heads on their next two albums, Conscious Party ( ) and One Bright Day ( ), which both climbed well into Billboard ’s top and won Grammy Awards. Following the Grammy-nominated Jahmekya ( ), the group embraced personal themes on Joy and Blues ( ), formed its own label for Free Like We Want B ( ), and earned a third Grammy with Fallen Is Babylon ( ). e Melody Makers disbanded a er ’s Spirit of Music , and Marley began a solo career with ’s Dragon y . He reentered the reggae main- stream with the Grammy-winning Love Is My Religion ( ) and then crossed into children’s music with Family Time ( ) and More Family Time ( ), each featuring guests like Paul Si- mon, Willie Nelson, Sheryl Crow, Alanis Moris- sette, and Laurie Berkner. Marley most recently released the therapeutically driven Brightside ( ) following the hit reggae discs Wild and Free ( ), Fly Rasta ( ), Ziggy Marley ( ), and Rebellion Rises ( ). Ziggy Mar- ley made his Ravinia debut in and tonight makes his rst return to the festival. THIEVERYCORPORATION Nearly years into a genre-defying electronic music career, ievery Corporation has seen its founding principles of DIY and inclusion become key themes in mainstream social con- versation.
