gpmf.orgAt the Festival, we believe music is essential to the life of our communities.
Through
Festival Connect
, we reach beyond the stage to touch as many lives
as possible. From lunchtime rehearsals enhanced with commentary from our
docents, to our pre-concert lectures in the Chase Promenade North tent, the
Festival supplements its performances with opportunities to bring both new
and longtime audiences even closer to the music.
TRAVELING ACROSS ZIP CODES
We know some residents can’t always come to Millennium Park for a Festival
concert, so we bring the Festival to them. As part of Mayor Emanuel’s
Night
Out in the Parks
initiative, the Festival annually presents free concerts in
Chicago Park District venues and cultural centers across the city. On July
9 and 12, the South Shore Cultural Center and Columbus Park Refectory
will host the Grant Park Orchestra for performances of Vivaldi’s
The Four
Seasons
, followed by
a cappella
concerts by the Grant Park Chorus on July
19 and 22. In addition, the Festival will offer family-friendly chamber concerts
in more than 10 Chicago neighborhoods.
In partnership with 98.7 WFMT, the Festival also broadcasts 10 concerts each
season, extending our programming to another 500,000 listeners via local
radio and the worldwide Internet.
INSPIRING LIFELONG PASSIONS
It’s never too early to spark a child’s interest in music, and the Festival
provides many young Chicagoans with their first exposure to classical music
and the symphony orchestra. In partnership with the Chicago Park District’s
