Born in Victoria, British Columbia, David Fos-

ter began playing piano at age , setting him on

course to become the proli c songwriter, com-

poser, arranger, producer, and recording artist

he is today. He has described his life as having

three acts—in the rst is Foster the studio mu-

sician, arranger, and recording artist. His career

was launched when his pop group Skylark was

signed to Capitol Records in

a top- hit with “Wild ower” in

. In the

second act, Foster became one of the most suc-

cessful songwriters and record producers in his-

tory. He created hit songs and award-winning,

gold- and platinum-selling albums for a such

artists as Barbra Streisand, Celine Dion, Whit-

ney Houston, Michael Jackson, Madonna, An-

drea Bocelli, Michael Bublé, Josh Groban, Rod

Stewart, Stevie Wonder, Earth, Wind & Fire,
